Lipsticks are my favourite makeup item, ever. I might hoard all makeup as much as I can, but it’s nothing in comparison to my lipstick collection. Some days I don’t mind testing new formulas or wearing ones that aren’t that lasting or comfortable. But most days I just need something that I don’t have to worry about and check up on. Something that I can trust to last or wear away decently and most importantly comfortable. These are the few lipsticks in my possession that I trust the most in these situations.
This is my perfect nude. My lips are naturally pigmented and red, thanks to the constant dryness and scrubbing, and this lipstick helps neutralise that, without being dull. It’s not that long lasting. Since it’s so similar to my own lips, it fades nicely and it doesn’t look patchy. It’s super comfortable and not drying whatsoever.
ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip – Echo Park (discontinued)
Another nude, this time a little peachier, but just as good. The formula is definitely thicker, especially in comparison to the soft matte, but still really comfortable. It transfers a lot, but my lips look just as pigmented regardless. It loses some shine throughout the day, but it never dries down like other liquid lipstick would, making it wearable for the whole day.
I’m so obsessed with how this colour looks on me. It’s so weird because one day I could look at it and say that it’s a dark mauve and one other I could swear it’s a brick red. But one thing that doesn’t change is the fact that it compliments my face to the point I could walk out the door just wearing this lipstick and no other makeup at all. And I hardly ever feel that way.
ColourPop Lippie Stix – Grunge (discontinued)
Aside from the fact that I love any Lippie Stix that I ever tried and that they’re super comfortable and they smell delicious. Grunge just stole my heart. Maybe it’s my obsession with brown lips. Or maybe the fact that my makeup and my outfit always go to that grungy place. And you probably guessed from the name, this is the perfect lip to wear for a grunge inspired look.
If you haven’t realised already matte is my weakness. But I can’t trust the liquid lipsticks I own because they are drying and some even start to crumble off. This Sephora one, on the other hand, is an absolute dream. It’s really thin, almost imperceptible on the lips, but incredibly pigmented. And it stays just as perfect even after hours of wear. I ate a burger with it once and it still wouldn’t leave my lips, I mean… This shade is the most perfect red ever, I swear it looks great on everyone (seriously, just Google it and see for yourself).
Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte – Divine Wine
Last but not least, the darkest shade of the bunch. I always feel conscious with dark creamy lipsticks because I feel they slide around and I’m afraid they’ll end up somewhere they shouldn’t. This lipstick is the perfect combo of matte and creamy. Somehow it stays in place but is so buttery at the same time. When I don’t have time to sit and do my makeup but want to look like I made an effort I always throw this on with just mascara on my eyes and I’m ready to go.
